This year, Lviv region has seen an impressive growth in the cultivation of fruit and berry crops. The volume of harvested crops is over 166 thousand tons, which is 16.7% higher than last year. According to the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the total area under fruit and berry crops reached 15.3 thousand hectares, of which 90% (13.9 thousand hectares) are in the fruiting stage.

This year, the average yield of fruit and berry crops increased by 13.7%, reaching 118.9 centners per hectare, which is 14.3 centners more than in the previous year. The largest increase in yields compared to last year is observed in the cultivation of blueberries (+76%), apples (+19.7%), peaches (+21.7%), garden strawberries (+17.3%), and cherries (+16.3%).

The Department's operational information shows that more than 680 hectares of new areas of fruit and berry crops were planted this year, of which 364 hectares are in the commercial sector.

"About 60% of the new areas in industrial production were planted thanks to grant support under the eRobota program. Over the period of the program, 13 entities received UAH 59.9 million to implement 217.5 hectares of new planting areas. The top three crops in the new plantings are blueberries, hazelnuts, and garden strawberries," said Tetiana Hetman, director of the department.

The results obtained indicate the effectiveness of agricultural practices and the use of the latest technologies in growing fruit crops in Lviv region.

The record yields of fruit and berry crops demonstrate the strong development of the region's agricultural sector and make up a significant part of the overall agricultural potential of Lviv region.
