Ukraine's ore exports and rail freight volumes reached unusually high levels in February, approaching pre-war levels. According to the data, iron and manganese ore led the way among the export cargoes transported by rail.
It is noted that in February, the volume of exports by rail amounted to 7.76 million tons, which is 3.6% more than in the previous month and an impressive 53% higher than in February last year. This is a significant indicator of the industry's recovery.
According to the study, iron and manganese ore accounted for the bulk of export cargo, accounting for 42.9% of total exports. Grain products took second place with 42.6%, and ferrous metals were third with 5%.
It was noted that the volume of ore transportation in February approached pre-war levels. The positive trends also resulted in a significant increase in cement exports by 3.1 times compared to January, reaching 98 thousand tons.
The total volume of rail freight transportation in February amounted to 14.55 million tons, showing the best result since the beginning of the war. This is a very important indicator of the industry's recovery from difficult periods.
It is worth noting that over the past year, Ukrzaliznytsia increased the volume of container transportation by 12%, to 102 thousand containers, and reached the level of transportation in twenty-foot equivalent units equal to the level of 2022.
