Mykolaiv region is receiving support in demining and restoring agricultural activities on damaged land. This initiative stems from cooperation between the Ministry of Agricultural Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP).
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, small farmers in Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts can apply for the program by April 21, 2024, through the State Agrarian Register (SAR), providing cadastral data on arable land that needs to be cleared.
Priority will be given to farmers who have a large percentage of land that has not been cultivated due to artillery shelling, as well as those who have suffered a large amount of damage due to hostilities.
Once the applications are processed, the selected farmers will be provided with demining support as well as production assistance where possible. This is another step towards supporting the agricultural sector in the context of the military conflict.
On March 12, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a procedure that allows farmers to compensate for the costs of demining agricultural land. This initiative is aimed at providing financial support to farmers who have suffered losses from mine threats.
