The MasterIndex study, commissioned by Mastercard, revealed that in 2023, 62% of Ukrainians already used digital cards for contactless payments via smartphones or other gadgets with NFC technology. This is 11 percentage points more than a year ago. The growth of NFC payment users is especially noticeable among people aged 36 to 60.

It is noted that a third of Ukrainians who took part in the study express their readiness to abandon plastic cards in favor of digital ones within the next two years. At the same time, about one in four (22%) already had the experience of opening digital cards in mobile banking applications in 2023.

The growing popularity of digital bank cards indicates the rapid expansion of digital payment technologies among Ukrainian consumers. The advantages of this approach include convenience, security and speed of payment, which are becoming key factors for many.

In addition, the development of digital payment instruments can contribute to the further modernization of the country's financial system and the creation of a favorable ecosystem for financial technologies.
