The Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine announced the introduction of gradual changes in the field of domestic passenger transportation. Deputy Minister Serhii Derkach informed about this and indicated the prospects of implementing these changes by the end of this year.
In particular, from April 30, it is planned to hold the first competition, within the framework of which 10 routes will be considered, regarding which relevant appeals have been received. In general, the ministry plans to organize tenders for about 60 routes, according to the requests received during the last year.
Derkach also emphasized the intention to simplify the route registration procedure and transfer it to an online format. Submission of documents and their verification will take place automatically, without human intervention.
In addition, the ministry plans to simplify the procedure for agreeing routes with the police, which is usually a formal procedure, but contains corruption risks and does not have a justified need.
These changes should be part of a large-scale reform in the field of passenger transportation, which includes holding tenders for interregional routes, simplifying the interaction of carriers with bus stations, and combating illegal transportation.
"Our goal is to ensure high-quality passenger transportation and create favorable conditions for the development of bus stations and carriers," Derkach emphasized.
It should be noted that the reform in the field of passenger transportation began in January 2023, when the government changed the procedure for holding tenders for interregional routes, taking into account the point system for evaluating carriers.
