Chinese carmaker Chery Auto has ambitious plans to break into the European market, planning to spend billions of euros to ensure the success of its Omoda and Jaecoo brands. Over the next three years, the company aims to strengthen its position in key European countries and create a stable image on a par with established car manufacturers such as Kia and Hyundai.

CEO of Omoda and Jaecoo for Italy Kevin Cheng confirmed in an interview with Reuters that Chery will start an active expansion in Europe this year. The first sales of cars will take place in Spain, Italy, Poland and Great Britain, with subsequent access to other European markets. Initially, the company plans to offer cars with gasoline engines, but in the future it is also expected to launch hybrid and electric models.

Chery aims to achieve the same level of recognition among European consumers as other well-known manufacturers. Kevin Cheng noted that the company plans to achieve this in three years, although similar brands such as Kia have taken almost two decades to establish their reputation in the European market.

Although the exact financial details are not disclosed, it is known that the investment amounts will amount to billions of euros. These funds will go not only to marketing campaigns, but also to the development of the brand, increasing its recognition and trust among consumers in Europe.

In addition, the company has plans to produce cars directly at European factories. It is expected that the production of Chery cars will begin at the new plant in Barcelona by the end of this year. The company is also considering the possibility of opening an additional production site in Eastern Europe, which can significantly increase their presence and competitiveness in the market.
