On December 27, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an important decision to resume scheduled inspections of non-food products, which were suspended during martial law. In addition, the government restored state control over these products by customs authorities. This decision is aimed at improving the quality and safety of non-food products, as well as maintaining a level playing field for business.
As noted by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna, the moratorium on inspections, which has been in effect since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, has allowed entrepreneurs to adapt to the new conditions for doing business. However, now, according to her, it is time to restore state supervision to ensure consumer protection from dangerous goods and promote a competitive environment in the market.
Restoring control over non-food products is also a response to the requirements of European partners. In particular, the European Commission has indicated the need to restore state control in preparation for the signing of the ACAA Agreement (Industrial Visa Waiver Agreement) and the Ukraine Facility program. This, according to the government, will allow to increase product safety, improve conditions for business development and increase competition.
An important step in this process is the adaptation of the Ukrainian market to European standards. It is expected that the restoration of market supervision will significantly bring Ukraine closer to European standards and accelerate the conclusion of the Industrial Visa Waiver Agreement, which will open up new opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers in international markets.
As part of this strategy, the government has also launched a new digital tool to improve interaction with business. The online platform "Pulse" allows entrepreneurs to assess the quality of state services and contributes to increasing the transparency and efficiency of the provision of these services. Such a step will help not only optimize interaction with business, but also ensure a high level of state control over product quality.
The restoration of market supervision for non-food products is an important component of the government's strategy to modernize economic processes in Ukraine. Thanks to this solution, consumers will be able to receive products that meet European safety standards, and businesses will receive equal conditions for competition, which is an important factor for the development of the national economy.
