Ukrainian oil company Ukrnafta announced the successful completion of the first stages of a large-scale drilling program at one of its youngest fields, which was discovered back in 1990. This was the first time in 13 years that the company has started active production resumption at this promising field.
The company's press release states that in the coming years, Ukrnafta plans to install dozens of new wells at this field, despite the difficult conditions that characterize work in a mountainous area at an altitude of 1,080 meters above sea level and with insufficient infrastructure.
Serhiy Koretsky, the company's director, emphasized that the resumption of work at this field required the company to make significant efforts, including using its own drilling rigs and working on its own due to the market's refusal to invest in this area in the past.
The last new wells at this field were drilled in 2011. In 2024, Ukrnafta successfully fractured the formation at three sites, and plans to install five new wells by the end of 2025, and another five in 2026.
In addition to the expansion of the drilling program, a significant infrastructure project is underway at the field, aimed at modernizing the pipeline system to ensure the transportation of future production volumes. This step is part of the company's strategy to modernize and develop its production capacities, aimed at ensuring stable production growth in the coming years.
These steps emphasize Ukrnafta's responsible approach to using its resources and ensuring the effective use of the field's potential, which opens up new opportunities for Ukraine's energy security and strengthening its positions in the international oil products market.
