In 2024, the combined revenue of the ten largest Ukrainian companies in the transport and postal services sector reached an impressive UAH 243.67 billion. This is 12% more than in the previous year, according to data from the Opendatabot analytical platform. However, despite the overall growth in revenue, only half of the top 10 companies managed to end the year with a profit.
Among the ten largest market players, five turned a profit, showing a combined profit of UAH 8.16 billion. The remaining four ended the year with losses totaling UAH 12.1 billion, and one more company was at a zero financial level. The state-owned Ukrzaliznytsia again showed the highest revenue — UAH 102.87 billion, which is 11% more than last year. However, the company continues to operate with losses, which in 2024 amounted to 4.19 billion UAH.
The second place in terms of revenue was taken by Nova Poshta, which is part of the NOVA group. Its revenue increased by 23% to 44.78 billion UAH, but net profit decreased by 1.6 times to 2.5 billion UAH. Interestingly, another company from the group, Neo-Trans, entered the list of leaders for the first time and was distinguished by the most dynamic growth: its revenue doubled to 6.51 billion UAH, and profit increased to 116.55 million UAH. Together, the two companies of the NOVA group generated 21% of the total revenue of the top 10.
State-owned companies still dominate the ranking. More than 70% of the total revenue is the result of the work of the public sector: 171.89 billion UAH. In addition to Ukrzaliznytsia, among the significant players are the GTS Operator of Ukraine (UAH 38.53 billion), Ukrposhta (UAH 12.98 billion), Ukrtransnafta (UAH 10.71 billion), and Ukrtransgaz (UAH 6.80 billion). At the same time, for example, Ukrtransgaz showed a serious decline: revenue decreased by almost a third, and losses amounted to UAH 7.44 billion.
Despite financial losses, Ukrposhta was able to reduce losses by almost half and increase revenue by 12% - to UAH 12.98 billion. This indicates positive developments in the company's operational efficiency, even in the face of general challenges in the industry.
A noticeable breakthrough in the ranking was made by the logistics company Logistics Union, which is part of the ATB group. It increased its revenue by 29% to UAH 8.42 billion and took first place in terms of profit among all companies on the list: UAH 3.06 billion, which is 40% more than last year. Such dynamics indicate active commercialization of logistics capacities in conditions of high demand for delivery and transportation.
Thus, the year for the transport and postal sector in Ukraine was ambiguous. Despite the growth in revenue and the emergence of new dynamic players, the unprofitability of a number of key state-owned companies remains a problem. However, the presence of stable growth indicates the adaptation of the industry to the difficult conditions of wartime and its important role in ensuring the economic stability of the country.
