Ukraine's agricultural sector continues to show positive results in exports. In the first half of this year, Ukraine exported agricultural products worth $11.8 billion, up 17% year-on-year.
According to the Ukrainian Agricultural Export Association (UAEA), the value of meat and offal exports amounted to $439 million, down 4% year-on-year. Poultry meat accounted for the largest share in the revenue structure of this product group, reaching $392 million, but this is 10% less than a year ago.
However, plant products proved to be more effective in terms of increasing export revenues. Sales of dairy products abroad increased by 8%, reaching $95 million. Among them, the most popular items are powdered and condensed milk ($ 37 million, down 5%), butter and milk pastes ($ 25 million, up 8%), and cheeses, which were exported for about $ 19 million, a 61% increase over last year.
It is noted that egg exports also show positive trends. In the first half of the year, almost 26 thousand tons of eggs were exported for $35 million, which is almost equal to the whole of last year. However, the export price for suppliers decreased to USD 1,352 per ton or USD 35,152 per 26-ton container, which is a slight decrease compared to the previous period.
In the area of fruit and berry crops, we recorded a slight decrease in export volumes by one third compared to the previous year. During this period, sales abroad reached $95 million. The main products that generate these revenues are frozen berries and fruits ($50 million), walnuts ($33 million) and cereals ($9 million).
The results of the first half of the year demonstrate the successful dynamics of Ukraine's agri-food exports. Increased exports of various agricultural products contribute to the country's economy and strengthen its position in the global market.
