In January-September 2024, Ukrainian gambling organizers paid 13.5 billion hryvnias in taxes to the state budget, which is almost twice as much compared to the same period last year. This result demonstrates a significant increase in financial income from the legalized gambling business and indicates successful steps in the direction of detinization of this industry.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev reported on the increase in tax revenues. He emphasized that such results became possible thanks to the active fight against illegal gambling establishments and effective work on reforming the industry.
The growth was especially noticeable in September 2024, when revenues from the gaming business amounted to 1.8 billion hryvnias. This is 83.2% more than in the same month last year, which in monetary terms is an additional 0.8 billion hryvnias. Of this amount, 1.3 billion hryvnias came from income tax, the volume of which increased by 2.6 times compared to September 2023.
According to the results of the first nine months of 2024, the total revenues from the gambling business doubled last year's figures, which confirms the stable development of the legalized sector. The government and specialized bodies hope that this trend will continue in the future, which will contribute to filling the budget and increasing the economic stability of the country.
It should be noted that already in the first eight months of 2024, tax revenues from gambling amounted to 11.7 billion hryvnias, which is 2.1 times more than in the same period of 2023. This indicates a significant growth of the industry, which not only replenishes the budget, but also creates additional jobs and promotes the development of other industries.
Thus, the legalization of the gambling business in Ukraine proved its effectiveness, turning the previously shadowy sector into an important source of income for the state.
