The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate an additional 4.1 billion hryvnias for compensation for the purchase of housing by war veterans in 2024. This decision is aimed at improving the living conditions of those who gave their service to defend the Motherland, as well as supporting their families. Information about this was published by the Government Portal.
Thanks to the new funding, the total amount of subventions from the state budget for the provision of housing for veterans will increase to a record 10.1 billion hryvnias. It is expected that these funds will allow providing housing for 4,433 veterans and their families this year.
According to the adopted document, an additional 4.1 billion hryvnias will be allocated for cash compensation for the purchase of housing for 1,836 war veterans. Among them are 388 people with disabilities of groups I-II and family members of the deceased, as well as 1,448 veterans who are internally displaced persons.
Government officials emphasized that this important decision will contribute not only to improving housing conditions for veterans, but also significantly reduce social tension among those who survived the ordeal of war. Payment of compensation will be made by the end of 2024, which will allow completing the process of providing assistance in a timely manner.
As of November 1, 2024, monetary compensation has already been paid to 1,886 veterans. Of this number, 695 people have already used the funds and purchased housing. This indicates the effectiveness of the program and its real impact on the lives of veterans.
The Cabinet of Ministers' decision is an important step in the state policy of supporting veterans and their families, because providing housing is one of the main factors of social adaptation and rehabilitation after service.
