The Ukrainian Maritime Trade Corridor plays a critical role in global logistics, ensuring the export of products to 53 countries on four continents. Since its launch, 120 million tons of cargo have already been transported, which has become a key factor in supporting the Ukrainian economy during the war. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to the government official, the maritime route covers destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. In total, almost 4,600 vessels left Ukrainian ports. Kuleba specified that of the entire transported cargo, 76 million tons are agricultural products - grain, oilseeds and other agricultural goods, which are strategic for the food security of many countries.

The use of the sea corridor has allowed Ukrainian exporters to maintain their competitiveness in world markets. According to the National Bank of Ukraine, about 30% of all metal products are exported via this route. For the agricultural sector, the added value from logistical accessibility is from 15 to 20%. This significantly increases foreign exchange earnings to the country.

The role of the sea route is especially important for the markets of North Africa and Southeast Asia, such as Kenya, Djibouti, or Bangladesh. In these regions, sea deliveries from Ukraine remain the only economically viable option for importing food. Alternative routes overland would significantly increase costs, making Ukrainian grain uncompetitive.

Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that logistics work takes place under conditions of daily threat. In particular, last year in the Odessa region alone, air raid warnings were issued more than 800 times, and the total time port workers spent in shelters reached more than 32 days. Despite this, the logistics system did not stop functioning and ensured stable supplies.

“Ukraine continues to play a leading role in the global food system. Our maritime corridor is more than just a logistics route. It is a pillar of stability that guarantees access to food for millions of people and at the same time strengthens the economy of our state,” the minister concluded.
