Ukraine, rapidly developing its technology sector, has decided to take responsibility for the production of microchips. According to Valeriia Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration, it is planned to create a network of companies for automated chip design, and production volumes can reach 50 thousand chips per month in just three years from the launch of the project.
This ambitious step involves the creation of a network of fabless companies, i.e. companies that do not own their own factories but specialize in computer-aided chip design. This will undoubtedly open up an opportunity for Ukraine to enter the global chip market and take a competitive position in the semiconductor industry.
Valeriia Ionan emphasized that the creation of this network will not only meet domestic needs but will also become the basis for export development. Ukraine can supply not only its own electronics manufacturers but also become a player in the international market.
As for the specific timeline for the project, the official did not specify the exact dates of construction. However, it is important to note that such an innovative step requires careful planning and cooperation with key players in the technology sector.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, indicated that the Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to develop and present a Ukrainian chip by the end of 2024. He also added that the ministry is already cooperating with various companies in this area, although details have not yet been disclosed.
The launch of Ukrainian microchip production promises to be a key milestone for the development of the country's technology sector. This will not only reduce dependence on imports, but also create new opportunities for Ukrainian engineers and entrepreneurs in the global high-tech world.
