Ukraine significantly increased the import of passenger cars in January-October 2024. According to the State Statistics Service, 265 thousand passenger cars (used and new) were imported into the country in ten months. This is 4% more than in the same period in 2023.
The total customs value of imported passenger cars amounted to $3.634 billion. This is 9.5% higher than in 2023. The overall growth in imports reflects the increase in demand for such cars, despite economic challenges.
The largest supplier of passenger cars remains Germany, which delivered 53.5 thousand cars to Ukraine. The second place is occupied by the USA, which supplied 40.8 thousand cars (+34%), and the third place belongs to China with a result of 30.5 thousand cars (+81%).
The top 10 countries exporting cars to Ukraine in 2024 are as follows:
1. Germany – 53,557 units (-12%);
2. USA – 40,793 units (+34%);
3. China – 30,491 units (+81%);
4. Japan – 26,523 units (+0.3%);
5. France – 14,660 units (-34%);
6. Korea – 13,920 units (+39%);
7. Czech Republic – 12,238 units (-20%);
8. Great Britain – 11,420 units (-16%);
9. Slovakia – 11,081 units (+18%);
10. Mexico – 10,991 units (+42%).
Overall, radically different progress is observed among top suppliers. However, the growth of supplies from China (+81%) and the USA (+34%) shows the growing diversity of the market in Ukraine.
