National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine continues its active strategy of diversifying gas supplies by signing another agreement with Polish energy giant Orlen for the purchase of 100 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian energy company.
This contract is the third within the framework of cooperation initiated in the spring of 2025. The total volume of gas contracted by Naftogaz from Orlen thus increased to 300 million cubic meters. This sequence of actions demonstrates the strengthening of the strategic energy partnership between Ukraine and Poland.
The liquefied gas to be delivered to Ukraine will come from the United States. Its regasification will be carried out at the Polish LNG terminal in Swinoujscie, after which the fuel will be transported to Ukraine via the gas transportation infrastructure of Poland. Such a route ensures flexibility and reliability of supply in the context of ongoing challenges for the energy sector of Ukraine.
Naftogaz CEO Roman Chumak emphasized the significance of the new agreement in the context of preparations for the heating season. According to him, the conclusion of such contracts is an important part of the state's energy strategy aimed at strengthening energy security and abandoning critical dependence on the Russian resource.
"This supply further strengthens the energy partnership between our companies and contributes to ensuring a reliable resource for Ukrainian consumers. We are already preparing for the next heating season, and such contracts are an important part of our strategy," Chumak emphasized.
Strengthening cooperation with European and transatlantic partners in the energy sector allows Ukraine not only to guarantee the stability of energy supplies, but also to increase its own geopolitical independence. In the context of wartime and a destroyed energy infrastructure, such agreements become the cornerstone of the economic resilience and viability of the state.
