Austrian Energy Minister Leonor Gevessler called on domestic suppliers to speed up the process of refusing Russian gas during a meeting with energy companies on Monday. This is reported by Euractiv with reference to Yevropeiska Pravda.

During the meeting with energy companies, Gevessler discussed plans to diversify gas supplies, given the fact that progress in refusing Russian gas, although achieved, is insufficient in terms of speed.

The minister noted that "it's about taking the last step" and taking additional measures necessary due to the ongoing uncertainty in the market.

Gevessler also said that Austria is ready for the next winter, as its gas storage facilities are 80% full. She also noted that the purchase of 13 terawatt hours of gas through the European platform has already been registered, which is more than 10% of the annual supply.

However, former E-Control chairman Walter Bolz warned Austria against complacency, emphasizing that a sudden cessation of supplies could lead to shortages and price increases. He urged not to be passive and to take additional measures to ensure reliable gas supplies.
