During the period from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2023, 85,247 land market transactions were concluded in Ukraine, covering an area of 275,157 hectares. In other words, during the two years of the market's operation, only 1% of the total area of formerly moratorium lands was sold and purchased. This was stated by Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization, during a press conference on Tuesday.
Bashlyk said that this number of transactions, which currently stands at 85,247, represents the number of Ukrainians who have been able to dispose of their property and freely carry out transactions for the sale, transfer or purchase of land plots that they legally own.
According to Bashlyk, during this period, agreements were concluded concerning 275,157 hectares of land that were sold or resold.
"These data dispel the myth that all land will be sold at once and we will lose land altogether. In fact, the former land under moratorium amounted to 27.5 million hectares. During the two years of the market's operation, only 1% of this area has been sold and purchased," said Bashlyk.
Continuing his speech, he noted that the land market reform is being carried out in stages, in compliance with the necessary legal and regulatory mechanisms, which ensures a stable and transparent process of land turnover.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the development of the land market is an important stage for the development of Ukraine's agricultural sector, increasing competition and attracting investment. At the same time, he emphasized the need to comply with land legislation and protect property rights, which guarantees the confidence of market participants and encourages them to actively participate.
In general, the land market reform in Ukraine is ongoing, and the number of transactions indicates a gradual but stable development of this segment. This helps to ensure transparency, efficiency and openness of the land turnover process, which has a positive impact on the agricultural sector and the country's economy.
