Ukrzaliznytsia plans to change its tariff policy to equalize the prices of tickets with a train connection with the prices of "direct" tickets. This initiative is intended to facilitate the purchase of complex tickets with a transfer within the same train. Ukrzaliznytsia has already introduced the ability to automatically offer such transfers in its mobile application.
The state-owned company admits that there are questions about the operation of transfers within the same train. They explain that it is a matter of buying two tickets for different parts of the route in one train, and the total cost of such tickets will be higher than the cost of a non-stop ticket for the entire route.
In the example given by the company, train No. 86, which travels from Zaporizhzhia to Lviv, has no tickets left for the entire route, but there are free seats on different parts of the route within this train. Thus, passengers who purchase tickets for individual sections will have to change trains at a specific station.
Ukrzaliznytsia is gradually introducing changes to make rail travel more affordable, even during the peak season. The company continues to improve its algorithms and encourages passengers to leave feedback and comments via its mobile app, chatbot, or contact center.
In particular, the mobile application of Ukrzaliznytsia has added a proposal for convenient transfers, both within the same train and between different trains, provided there is sufficient time to make a transfer at the relevant station.
