In August this year, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) planned to implement training exercises aimed at ensuring the resilience of the city's life support systems during a possible blackout. The deputy head of the KCSA, Petro Panteleyev, announced the plans, emphasizing the importance of the city's preparedness for extreme situations.

Mr. Panteleyev said that Kyiv is currently working on about 15 different scenarios that could arise during a blackout. According to him, such trainings will help to respond more effectively to various challenges, in particular during the heating season, when conditions can be the most difficult. It also covers scenarios in case of infrastructure damage.

Last year's winter experience showed that one of the main problems was providing efficient generators for heating points. Mr. Panteleev emphasized that the property and equipment purchased last year is kept in readiness and can be used promptly.

Deputy Klitschko also noted that various facilities and equipment are being checked weekly for winter readiness, including heating stations and shelters. Obolon and Holosiivskyi districts of the city have already been checked.

Mr. Panteleev emphasized that more than two-thirds of the necessary winterization work has already been completed. He added that there are two months left to complete all the necessary measures and repairs, which are scheduled to be completed by October 1.
