The State Employment Service of Ukraine reports that the Recovery Army program has almost 44,000 unemployed people who have taken part in community service. This is a special initiative aimed at supporting the public sector and providing employment in the face of economic challenges.
According to the State Employment Service, as of August 14, 2023, 43,624 Ukrainians from 19 regions have taken part in community service projects since the program began on October 1 last year.
The regions with the highest number of people involved in the program include the following:
Kharkiv region: 7,891 referrals,
Poltava region: 6,770 referrals,
Donetsk region: 5,040 referrals,
Kyiv region: 4,980 referrals,
Chernihiv region: 4,729 referrals.
In addition to employment, program participants receive salaries for their work. According to the agency, UAH 283 million has already been allocated to pay salaries for participation in public works.
The "Army of Recovery" program has become an important tool to support employment and help unemployed people during the economic challenges and the pandemic. It not only helps to preserve jobs, but also supports infrastructure development and community improvement.
