Demand for used foreign cars in Ukraine has reached an annual high, according to the Ukravtoprom association. In August, more than 21,000 used cars were added to the Ukrainian car fleet. This is 12% more than in July and 27% more than in August last year.
The August addition of used cars to the fleet was the largest in the last 12 months, the association said. This growth may indicate an increase in demand for used cars in Ukraine.
Among the different types of cars, gasoline cars make up the majority, accounting for 45% of all registered cars. This is followed by diesel cars (32%), electric cars (15%), cars with gas equipment (5%), and hybrids (3%).
Once again, the Volkswagen Golf is at the top of the list of popular used cars in Ukraine, with 1725 registered vehicles. The list of leaders in August also includes models from the following manufacturers:
Renault Megane - 1363 cars
Skoda Octavia - 952 cars
Volkswagen Passat - 835 cars
Nissan Leaf - 505 cars
Ford Focus - 426 cars
Nissan Qashqai - 412 cars
Volkswagen Tiguan - 408 cars
Volkswagen Touran - 375 cars
Audi A4 - 365 cars
The average age of used cars registered with Ukrainian license plates in August is 10 years. This demonstrates the popularity of more experienced cars among buyers.
Since the beginning of this year, 127,000 used passenger cars have been imported and registered in Ukraine, which is 3.3 times more than the number of new cars sold during this period. This may indicate the popularity and practicality of used cars among Ukrainian drivers.
