The Ukrainian automotive market continues to show a steady growth in imports of used cars purchased abroad. According to the Ukravtoprom association, 21.3 thousand used cars were imported in October, which shows a 41% increase in this segment compared to October last year and a 1% increase compared to the previous month.
Consumers continue to prefer gasoline cars, which account for 44% of the total number of imported cars, diesel cars account for 31%, electric cars - 17%, cars with a gas installation (LPG) - 5%, and hybrids - 3%.
The most popular used car models are dominated by the Volkswagen Golf, which is not the first choice of consumers. Renault Megane ranks second in the list of popular brands, while Skoda Octavia completes the top three.
According to Ukravtoprom, the list of the most popular models of the month also includes:
Volkswagen Passat;
Nissan Leaf;
Volkswagen Tiguan;
Tesla Model 3;
Audi A4;
Ford Focus;
Nissan Qashqai.
The average age of imported used cars that were re-registered to Ukrainian license plates in October is nine and a half years.
Overall, 169.3 thousand used cars imported from abroad were sold in Ukraine this year. This number is 3.4 times higher than the number of new cars sold during the same period.
Due to a number of factors, such as high new car prices, limited choice of new models and growing confidence in used cars, the Ukrainian market continues to demonstrate a steady demand for imported used cars. The growth trend of the used car market in Ukraine is expected to continue in the near future.
In terms of new cars, this segment continues to be dominated by cars with gasoline engines, which account for 45% of all registrations. Diesel cars account for 20%, hybrids - 19%, electric cars - 15%, and cars with LPG - 1%.
