In November, the index of business activity expectations of Ukrainian businesses remained at a negative level, reaching 49.1 compared to 49.6 in October, the National Bank of Ukraine reported. The survey of 460 companies in various industries showed that entrepreneurs are resentful of economic instability due to military operations, security risks, logistical problems, and other factors.
The only sector that forecasts improvement is trade, thanks to slowing inflation and steady domestic demand. Trade companies expect an increase in turnover and purchases of goods, but at a slightly slower pace.
Industrial companies have downgraded their forecasts due to difficulties with exports, logistical obstacles, and increased hostilities. The consumer sector remained pessimistic, anticipating further increases in spending and a decline in construction.
Services companies showed slightly less pessimism in November, but still expect a slight decline in their performance. The construction sector is the most pessimistic due to rising costs, a narrowing of investment demand, and a lack of skilled workers.
The survey also pointed to restrained expectations for employment, with job losses forecast, especially in the construction sector. The rate of growth in supplier prices also had a negative impact, although entrepreneurs predict a slight decline in prices for their products and services.
Overall, Ukrainian business in November remained under the influence of various challenges, and continued to show resentment at the difficulties that hinder its development.
