The Ukrainian budget has received a significant boost from the tax on electronic services paid by foreign IT companies. In the first five months of 2025, these revenues reached about 7 billion hryvnia, which indicates an almost 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Such data was published by the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.
The volume of taxable services increased by 29.5% during this period, which indicates a stable growth of e-commerce and the popularity of digital services among Ukrainian users. At the same time, the number of companies paying this tax has also increased: as of May 2025, there were already 136 of them.
In absolute figures, the amount of tax paid for January-May is the equivalent of approximately 76.1 million euros or 85.2 million US dollars. This is 1.8 billion hryvnias more than for the corresponding period in 2024, which confirms the effectiveness of fiscal regulation in the digital economy.
Among the largest payers are the world's leading technology companies: Google, Apple, Meta, Valve, Sony, Netflix, Spotify, Adobe, Etsy, Epic Games, Upwork and Wargaming Group. Their contributions demonstrate a serious attitude towards fulfilling tax obligations in Ukraine, even in conditions of international instability.
Services providing services in the field of mobile transport were not left aside. In particular, the Bolt and Uklon platforms paid a total of 4.4 million euros. The OnlyFans service also joined the list of payers, declaring and transferring $0.8 million to the budget.
The introduction of the so-called "Google tax" in 2022 allowed Ukraine not only to compensate for part of the budget losses, but also to adapt to new digital realities. The constant growth of revenues in this category confirms that the digital transformation of the state can be not only a tool for modernization, but also a source of stable financial resources.
