The UK has placed a £280m munitions order with BAE Systems, with an option to expand to £400m. This information was provided by the Reuters agency.

According to the agency, Great Britain and its NATO allies have given Ukraine millions of ammunition units as military aid, which has led to the need to replenish its own stockpiles.

Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak announced this new order, stressing that it will contribute to the elimination of such risks in the future.

In total, the £280m order includes £190m for the production of 155mm artillery shells, with the remainder going to the production of 30mm medium-caliber shells and 5.56mm small-caliber ammunition.

The order will also allow BAE Systems, one of the UK's largest defense companies, to expand its production capacity in the country to produce eight times more 155mm artillery shells.

Earlier, in March, Great Britain announced a plan to allocate 11 billion pounds to the defense budget over the next five years. This step shows the country's desire to strengthen its defense capabilities and ensure the safety of its people.
