The European Union has pledged to send 500 power generators worth €16.5 million to Ukraine to strengthen the country's energy resilience. This information was announced by the European Commission in an official statement.

The power generators to be delivered to Ukraine were withdrawn from the European Union's strategic reserves and are located in Poland. Their capacity ranges from 12.5 kVA to 1000 kVA, providing power to hospitals in the event of power outages.

The cost of the 500 generators is €16.5 million and they will be distributed to various ministries of Ukraine. In addition, 40 generators will be allocated to schools.

The main goal of this initiative is to ensure reliable power supply during cold and dark periods, as well as to support critical services such as hospitals, wastewater treatment plants and thermal power plants. This is important, especially in the face of geopolitical and energy challenges.

Along with the generators, more than 5,500 units of power generators have already been sent to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. In addition, the EU is also supplying other important energy items such as transformers, autotransformers, high-voltage equipment, and LED lamps.

The European Commission's press release states that the total financial assistance provided to Ukraine under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism amounts to €796 million, which demonstrates the importance of support in difficult times.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine received 5,000 Starlink terminals from the Polish government, which will help restore communication in the de-occupied regions and ensure the functioning of schools, medical facilities and the energy sector in the frontline areas.
